Since its debut in the early 1970s and its reissue over two decades ago, the API 525 Discrete Compressor has earned its place as one of the most trusted vintage-style compressors in the industry. The updated 525A builds on the original’s powerful core circuitry, preserving its discrete audio path while introducing enhanced features tailored for modern studio applications.
This updated design seamlessly integrates API’s proprietary transformers along with the renowned 2510 and 2520 op-amps, delivering the classic sonic character of the original. At the same time, the 525A upholds API’s reputation for reliability, longevity, and consistent performance — hallmarks of every API product.
